Applying Boat Graphics
Boat owners often
want to place unique images and graphics on
their boats.
Most often the only images available to them are
either a well designed name or a personalized
logo which is placed on the stern of the boat.
The body of any boat can be turned into a
beautiful graphic canvas, as can be seen from
some of the more decorated racing boats and
power boats.
Boat owners or sign painters used to hand paint
any images or lettering that you wanted to have
on a boat. Decals quickly became the method of
choice after the introduction of vinyl
lettering. Some of the many advantages of decals
were quick application, incredible durability,
and the ability to resist scrapes and scratches
that deter from the overall look of the graphic.
Applying boat vinyl boat graphics continued to
be a very tedious task, although it was faster
than hand painting. The adhesives used to apply
the vinyl graphics required the use of both
toxic chemicals and some sort of heat gun or
torch. It would just as difficult to remove the
decals.
Contemporary Boat Graphics
The process of applying boat graphics improved
dramatically with the introduction of self
adhesive vinyl decals. Other advantages you get
from modern vinyl products include
semi-permeable labels which allow any air bubble
to escape, leaving you a smooth label without
bumps or folds. Photographic printing options
are offered by some of today’s print shops,
giving boat owners the ability to use an
expanded array of colors and textures.
